Will My Book Be Available With Waterstones?

Find out how Waterstones sources books, how Gardners fits into the process and what you can do to improve the chances of your Bookvault title being available.

Can my Bookvault title be available through Waterstones?

Potentially, yes.

Waterstones orders books through Gardners rather than directly from Bookvault.

The supply chain is:

Bookvault → Gardners → Waterstones

Bookvault does not have a direct relationship with Waterstones, so we cannot guarantee that your title will appear on the Waterstones website or be stocked in Waterstones stores.

What do I need to do?

If you purchased and registered your ISBN yourself, make sure:

  • your ISBN is published and registered with Nielsen
  • Bookvault is listed as the distributor
  • you have completed the required information under Manage Distribution in your Bookvault account

Once this information is in place, Gardners should be able to order the title from Bookvault.

Because Waterstones orders through Gardners, this can then allow Waterstones to order the book.

What if Bookvault registered my ISBN?

If your ISBN was provided and registered as part of a Bookvault Publishing project, the relevant distributor information is handled as part of that publishing process.

You should still make sure your distribution setup in Bookvault is complete.

Will my book automatically appear on Gardners or Waterstones?

No.

Bookvault cannot guarantee that Gardners will list your title on its own platform or that Waterstones will display or stock it.

Gardners and Waterstones control their own catalogues and purchasing decisions.

Does my trade discount matter?

Your trade discount determines the maximum discount available within the retail supply chain.
