Do I Need a New ISBN for a BookvaultBespoke Title?

Find out whether your BookvaultBespoke edition needs a separate ISBN and how bespoke options affect retail distribution.

If you already have a title set up in Bookvault, you can edit that title and add BookvaultBespoke options to it.

However, adding bespoke options to an existing title would stop that title being sold through bookshops and retailers.

Which ISBN can I use for a BookvaultBespoke title?

For a BookvaultBespoke edition, you can use:

  • Your own ISBN that you have purchased and registered yourself
  • A Bookvault dummy ISBN for sales through Bookvault and your connected ecommerce store

A Bookvault-purchased ISBN registered through Nielsen cannot be used for a BookvaultBespoke title.

This is because BookvaultBespoke titles are not available through Bookvault’s retail distribution network.

If you want to keep a standard edition available through retailers and also sell a Bespoke version directly, create the Bespoke version as a separate title with its own eligible ISBN option.

Can BookvaultBespoke titles be distributed to retailers?

No.

BookvaultBespoke titles are not available for retail distribution, including retailers such as Amazon.

They can only be ordered:

  • directly through the Bookvault portal
  • through an ecommerce platform connected to Bookvault
