Should I Upload Single Pages or Spreads to Bookvault?

Learn whether your Bookvault interior and cover files should be supplied as single pages or full spreads.

Your interior content should be supplied as single pages rather than spreads.

How should I supply my interior PDF?

Upload your book’s inner content as single pages.

Your interior file should not be supplied as two-page spreads.

How should I supply my cover file?

The way you supply your cover depends on the binding type.

For paperback and hardback books, the cover should be supplied as a full spread containing:

  • back cover
  • spine
  • front cover

For wiro and spiral bound books, the cover should be supplied as a single-page view.

Where can I check the correct file layout?

Bookvault provides templates showing how your files should be prepared for your chosen book specifications.

How Should I Size My Book PDF?

What if I want my book to print single-sided?

Bookvault interiors are normally printed double-sided (duplex).

If you want content to appear on only one side of each sheet, prepare your interior PDF by inserting a blank page after each page of content.

For example:

  • Page 1: Content
  • Page 2: Blank
  • Page 3: Content
  • Page 4: Blank

This creates an effectively single-sided layout while still supplying the interior as individual PDF pages.

Blank pages still form part of the book’s total page count.
