If you want to use Bookvault’s wider retail distribution network, your ISBN needs to be properly published and registered with the relevant ISBN agency.

For UK titles, this will typically be Nielsen.

If your ISBN is registered through another recognised ISBN agency, such as Bowker in the United States, Bookvault can still use it for distribution.

What information needs to match?

The information you enter into Bookvault should match the metadata registered against your ISBN.

This includes details such as:

• book title
• author
• publisher or imprint
• description
• subject classifications
• other publication information

Differences between the information held by the ISBN agency and the information entered into Bookvault can cause retailer feeds or listings to be rejected.

What if I only want to print my book?

You do not need a registered ISBN simply to print copies through Bookvault.

A registered ISBN is required when you want to use wider retail distribution.

If you are not distributing the title through the wider retail network, you may be able to use a Bookvault Dummy ISBN instead.

What if I use a Bowker ISBN?

Bookvault can use ISBNs registered through Bowker.

Make sure the ISBN has been fully assigned to the correct title through Bowker’s MyIdentifiers platform and that the metadata matches the information entered into Bookvault.
