Embedding fonts in your document is essential to ensure that the fonts you use in your book appear correctly in the printed version. Below are the steps to embed fonts using Microsoft Word. While the process may vary slightly depending on your version of Word, the general steps remain similar:
Open the Export Options
-
- Click on File in the top menu bar.
- Instead of selecting "Save As," go to Export and choose the option to Create PDF/XPS Document.
Set PDF Options
- A dialog box will appear prompting you to name your file. Before proceeding, click the Options button.
- In the Options form, look for the setting labeled PDF/A compliant and make sure it is enabled. This setting ensures the document meets the necessary criteria for print production, including embedding the fonts.
Save and Publish
-
- After confirming the settings, click OK to return to the main dialog box.
- Now, press Publish to create your PDF with embedded fonts.
Following these steps ensures that your fonts are properly embedded, preventing any issues with font replication in the printed book.
