Find out how long it can take for your book to appear on The Great British Bookshop and other retailers after setting up distribution with Bookvault.
Once you've completed your title's distribution information, the time it takes to appear for sale depends on where your book is being listed.
The Great British Bookshop
Your title should appear on The Great British Bookshop within 24 hours of completing your distribution setup.
If you've entered a future publication date, your book can appear on The Great British Bookshop as a pre-order before that date.
Other retailers
For other retailers, Bookvault sends your title information once the publication date has been reached.
Retailers then need to process the information before your book becomes available for sale.
This can take up to 6 weeks, although listings will often appear in around 2 weeks.
How can I check the status of my listings?
You can check the progress of your Amazon and The Great British Bookshop listings from your Bookvault account.
Go to:
Manage Distribution → View Listings
You'll be able to see whether each listing is:
- Pending
- In Progress
- Active
- Encountering an issue
If Amazon have flagged an issue with the metadata we've tried to send to them, it will flag up as 'Action Needed' as you'll see below. You can click on the 'Listing Report' button to then view the error message generated from Amazon's side, this will indicate if there's some data you need to change in the distribution information.
What does “Action Needed” mean?
If Amazon encounters a problem with the metadata Bookvault has submitted, your listing may show Action Needed.
Select Listing Report to see the error returned by Amazon. This can help you identify information in your distribution setup that needs to be corrected.
