How Do I Order a Proof Copy of My Book?
Learn how to order a physical proof copy of your Bookvault book so you can check the finished result before selling it or placing a larger order.
Bookvault doesn't supply a separate type of book specifically as a proof copy.
Instead, we recommend placing an order for one copy of your book and having it sent to yourself. This gives you an indication of how copies of your book will be produced by our production facility.
Should I order a copy before placing a large order?
Yes.
If you haven't had a physical copy of your book produced yet and you're planning to place a large order, we would always recommend ordering a single copy first and checking it carefully.
This gives you the opportunity to review the finished book before committing to a larger quantity.
What should I check on my proof copy?
Check that you're happy with the finished book and that it matches what you expect from the files you've supplied.
Once you've received your copy and are happy with the quality, you can then proceed with setting up distribution or connecting your website to fulfil customer orders.
Is a proof copy different from the finished book?
No separate proof-production process is used here. You're simply ordering one normal copy of your book to yourself so you can inspect the finished product before proceeding.
Because Bookvault uses print-on-demand production, there can still be slight variations in printing and binding between different orders.
Can I order a proof from a specific Bookvault print location?
Yes, where the selected print location can produce your book specification.
For example, if your book is eligible for production through Bookvault’s US print partner, you can request a proof copy to be produced there.
The available print locations depend on your book specifications, including factors such as binding, paper stock and page count.
You can check which locations can produce your book by looking at the country flags shown when setting up your title or using the Bookvault Quote Tool.
Will all orders of my book look like the proof copy?
Can you send a sample book / papers?
