What Are the Minimum and Maximum Page Counts for Bookvault Books?

Find out how Bookvault page-count limits work, what affects the minimum and maximum number of pages, and the current maximum limits for each binding and paper type.

The number of pages your book can contain depends on the binding type and paper stock you choose.

There isn’t one minimum or maximum page count that applies to every Bookvault book. Different binding and paper combinations have different production requirements, so Bookvault checks your specification when you set up your title.

What affects the minimum page count?

Your minimum page count depends on the combination of:

  • Binding type
  • Paper stock
  • Book specification

When you add a title in Bookvault, enter your chosen binding, paper stock and page count.

If the page count is too low for that combination, Bookvault will display an error showing the minimum number of pages required. You can then increase the page count or change the book specification.

What affects the maximum page count?

Maximum page counts also vary by binding and paper stock.

Thicker paper generally means fewer pages can fit within a binding, while thinner stocks can support larger page counts.

If you enter more pages than your selected specification supports, Bookvault will tell you that the page count exceeds the permitted maximum.

How do I check the correct page-count limit for my book?

The easiest way is to enter your intended specification into Bookvault.

Choose your:

  • Binding
  • Paper stock
  • Page count

Bookvault will automatically tell you if your page count is outside the permitted range for that combination.

You can also use the Bookvault quote tool to test different specifications before setting up your title.

What should I do if my page count is too low?

If your book does not meet the minimum page count, you can either:

  • increase the number of pages in the book; or
  • choose a different binding or paper stock that supports your current page count.

Bookvault will show you the minimum required for the specification you selected.

What should I do if my page count is too high?

If your book exceeds the maximum, you may need to:

  • choose a thinner paper stock;
  • select a different binding method; or
  • reduce the number of pages.

The available options will depend on your book specification.

Do page-count limits ever change?

They can.

Production capabilities and available materials may change, so the Bookvault portal and quote tool should be treated as the most up-to-date source for your exact specification.
