Are There Any File Revision or Editing Fees With Bookvault?

Find out whether Bookvault charges for replacing book files, updating title specifications or making changes to an existing title after setup.

Once a title has been created in Bookvault, you can make certain updates without paying another title setup fee.

This includes replacing book files and editing some title information within your account.

Is there a fee to replace my book files?

No.

If you need to upload a revised interior or cover file for an existing title, you can replace the file through your Bookvault account without creating the title again.

This is useful if you need to correct:

  • typos
  • formatting issues
  • cover artwork
  • interior layout
  • updated content

Your new files will need to go through Bookvault’s validation process before they can be used for future orders.

Do I have to pay the title setup fee again when I update my files?

No.

The title setup fee applies when you create a new title.

Replacing files for an existing title does not mean you need to create the title again or pay another setup fee.

Is there a fee to edit my book specifications?

Bookvault allows you to update certain title details and specifications from your account.

Whether a particular specification can be changed depends on the title setup and the type of change you are making.

If the change effectively creates a different edition or format, you may need to create a separate title instead.

For example, changing from paperback to hardback may require a separate title and ISBN rather than editing the existing version.

Can I edit my files after placing an order?

Be careful here.

Updating a file in your Bookvault account does not necessarily change an order that has already entered production.

If an order has already been sent to print, the files attached to that order may already be locked for production.

Does Bookvault provide editing or design services?

Updating your own files in Bookvault is different from professional editing or design work.

Bookvault does not automatically edit your manuscript, redesign your cover or correct your content when you upload a revised file.

If you need professional editing or design support, you may need to work with an external service provider.

What should I do before replacing a file?

Before uploading a revision:

  • check that the file dimensions are correct
  • make sure fonts are embedded
  • confirm bleed and margins are correct
  • export the file in the required PDF format
  • review the updated file carefully before uploading

After upload, allow Bookvault to complete its file-validation checks before using the revised version for future orders.

Are there any other charges I should know about?

Replacing files is separate from other Bookvault charges such as:

  • title setup fees
  • printing costs
  • shipping
  • optional services or specialist production features
