- If you have a resale certificate for any state already, you need to enter the section for each state and can easily upload the certificate there
- If you do not have a certificate for a state, we would recommend using the wizard function for Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Florida and Virginia. It is quick and easy to do, but only if you have already registered as a reseller in those states (and therefore have a registration number you can provide). If you have not, please check the state websites for how to register (which is normally a quick and easy thing to do)
- For the other states, you can use the wizard if you choose, but as all are part of the Streamlined Sales Tax (SST) scheme, you may find it easier and simpler to download the SST form from the SST website https://www.streamlinedsalestax.org/Shared-Pages/exemptions- and complete it on your computer once for all relevant states. Once done, you can upload that same form (one a time, for each state) in CertExpress
Things to remember when completing certificates:
- Where asked (this will be pre-filled in the wizard), please insert COPYTECH (UK) LIMITED (T/A PRINTONDEMAND-WORLDWIDE.COM) as the Supplier/Seller/
Vendor Name
- Ensure your details are correct, as Buyer/Purchaser
- Complete all description fields with specific details related to your company's business activity and purchases – it would generally be books or publishing, as appropriate
- Be sure to mark your reason for exemption as being “resale” where applicable (it is someway down the dropdown list on the wizard) unless you are claiming exemption for another reason (e.g. as a charity or state contractor)
- When asked for your tax registration, not all states will need you to register in that state – many will accept another states tax number, or even an overseas tax number – but it’s important to check so you provide one that would be acceptable for each state. If in doubt, it’s important to check with the state in question, or with your accountant/tax advisor
- Provide a signature (handwritten, digital, or stamped) and date on the certificate(s) where required (the SST does not need a signature if digitally completed)
