When do I get paid for my book sales?
Find out when Bookvault processes payments from retail book sales, how ecommerce payments work and where to add your bank details.
Bookvault payment timing depends on where your book was sold.
For sales made through The Great British Bookshop or the Bookvault Retail Network, payments are processed by Bookvault on the 14th of the month following your sales.
If you sell through your own ecommerce store, the customer pays you directly through your website, so Bookvault does not receive or hold that money.
When are Bookvault retail sales paid?
For sales through The Great British Bookshop or the Bookvault Retail Network, Bookvault processes payments on the 14th of the following month.
For example, sales made during September would be processed on 14 October.
What happens with sales from my own ecommerce store?
If you sell through your own ecommerce website, the customer payment is handled by your store and payment provider.
Bookvault does not receive the money from that sale. Instead, Bookvault charges you separately for the production and shipping costs required to fulfil the order.
This means direct-sale revenue reaches you according to the payout schedule of your ecommerce platform or payment provider, rather than Bookvault’s retail payment schedule.
Are payments different for bank accounts outside the UK?
Yes.
For bank accounts outside the UK, transfer fees can apply to both parties.
As standard, Bookvault makes payments to non-UK bank accounts once the amount due reaches £100.
How do I add my bank details to Bookvault?
Log in to your Bookvault account and go to Profile.
On the Profile page, find the bank details section and enter the required information.
Select Update to save your bank details.
Make sure the details are correct so Bookvault can process any payments due to you.
How are my Bookvault payments sent?
Standard Bookvault royalty and publisher compensation payments are paid by BACS bank transfer using the bank details saved to your account.
Can my royalties be added to my Bookvault account balance instead?
Yes.
Bookvault can redirect royalty payments into your Bookvault account balance instead of paying them out to your bank account.
This is not a self-service setting and must be arranged manually by the Accounts team.
If you already have bank details saved for royalty payments, these may need to be removed as part of the change.
Where can I see how much I have earned?
You can use Bookvault’s reporting tools to review your book sales and publisher compensation.
For more information on how earnings are calculated, see:
How Do I Calculate My Royalties or Publisher Compensation With Bookvault?
That article explains how your retail price, retailer discount and printing costs affect what you earn per sale.
What should I do if I have not received an expected payment?
First check that:
- your bank details are complete and correct
- the payment date has passed
- any non-UK payment threshold has been reached
If everything looks correct and you still believe a payment is missing, contact Bookvault support so the payment can be checked.
