Why Has Avalara Contacted Me About My Resale Certificate?

Find out why Avalara may contact you about a missing, invalid or expiring resale certificate and what you need to do next.

Bookvault regularly monitors sales to identify authors and publishers making significant sales where we either don't have the required resale certificate on file, or an existing certificate is invalid or approaching expiry.

If this applies to your account, you may be contacted by Avalara, Bookvault's tax partner.

Why has Avalara contacted me?

Avalara should explain the specific reason when they contact you.

This could be because:

  • A required resale certificate is missing.
  • An existing certificate is approaching expiry.
  • A certificate is invalid.
  • Information is missing from a certificate — for example, a required signature.

What do I need to do?

The message from Avalara should contain a link to CertExpress.

Depending on the issue with your certificate, you'll be able to either:

  • Upload a new or updated certificate, or
  • Use the CertExpress wizard to create a new certificate where required.

Follow the reason given by Avalara and provide the requested certificate information through CertExpress.
