Forced Edges vs Sprayed Edges: What’s the Difference?

Bookvault does not recommend using forced edges as an alternative to sprayed edges.

If an undesirable result is caused by forced-edge interior files, it will not be eligible for a refund.

Forced edges are created by manipulating the bleed on interior pages to try to make artwork or colour appear along the edges of the finished book.

This can imitate the appearance of sprayed edges, but it is not the same production process.

Because normal print-on-demand production involves movement and trimming tolerances, the result can be inconsistent.

Forced edges rely on artwork extending into the interior-page bleed and can therefore produce less predictable results.

For this reason, Bookvault recommends using the proper sprayed-edge option rather than forcing the effect through the interior file.
