Can I Print a Double-Sided (Duplex) Jacket With Bookvault?
Learn how to supply a double-sided jacket file for Bookvault, including the correct PDF setup, lamination requirements and foiling limitations.
Yes. Bookvault supports duplex (double-sided) jacket printing, allowing you to add artwork or content to both the outside and inside of your book jacket.
How do I supply a duplex jacket file?
Upload a PDF containing two pages:
- Page 1 – Outside of the jacket
This is the external side of the jacket and will be laminated. - Page 2 – Inside of the jacket
This is the internal side of the jacket and will not be laminated.
Both pages should match the dimensions of your Bookvault jacket template exactly.
Incorrect sizing may cause the file to fail validation or result in production issues.
Is the inside of the jacket laminated?
No.
Only the outside of the jacket is laminated. The inside printed surface remains unlaminated.
Can I use foiling on a double-sided jacket?
No.
Foiling cannot currently be combined with a double-sided jacket file.
If your title includes advanced foiling and you upload a two-page jacket PDF, Bookvault will automatically reject the file.
To use foiling, you’ll need to supply a single-sided jacket file instead.
How should I prepare my duplex jacket artwork?
Before uploading your file:
- Download the correct jacket template for your title
- Make sure both PDF pages use exactly the same dimensions
- Place the outside artwork on page 1
- Place the inside artwork on page 2
- Check bleed, safety areas and spine positioning against the template
- Export the finished artwork as a two-page PDF
